80. YOLK IN THE FUR by Wild Pink
It’s kind of funny how Wild Pink are consistently compared to The War on Drugs and Death Cab for Cutie since I haven’t been able to find any real connection to either of those band’s music. The first time I heard “Yolk in the Fur,” however, I was hooked. This 2018 indie rock record is imbued with subtlety (imagine lead singer John Ross just talking to you on the phone), finger-lickin’ good finger-pickin’ and synths that you would only notice if they suddenly went missing. Check out ‘Lake Erie,’ ‘Jewels Drossed in the Runoff’ and ‘Love is Better.’
