50. VISIONS OF A LIFE by Wolf Alice
2017 brought us London-based alt-rock (Britrock) band Wolf Alice’s second record. A four piece band with lead singer Ellie Rowsell at the helm, “Visions of a Life” variably alternates between punk (the powerful ‘Yuk Foo’), synthpop (‘Don’t Delete the Kisses’), pure rock (‘Space & Time’) and, well, a song called ‘Sadboy’ (with a bridge sung by Rowsell that has to be heard to be believed). The album closes out with the epic 8 minute title track which is essentially 2 to 3 songs in one. By the way, this record won the 2018 Mercury Prize for album of the year.
