168. US by Peter Gabriel
This 1992 record was the true follow-up to Gabriel's 1986 smash hit, So. While So carried the pop torch with pride, Us was a completely different beast. This is an atmospheric album which dealt with heavy personal issues, including his divorce and strained relationship with his daughter. It is a great listen with headphones, especially the tracks I recommend down below. While there are a few pop-oriented singles here, I'd like to direct your attention to those songs that truly deserve a close, focused listen: 'Love To Be Loved,' 'Blood of Eden' (with Sinead O'Connor, previously covered here), 'Washing Of The Water' and 'Secret World.'
