34. TELL NO ONE by Bad Moves

Washington D.C. quartet Bad Moves released this, their debut album, in 2018, generating a lot of buzz along the way. Described simultaneously as power pop and punk, they remind me of Green Day or even the Clash. Mostly uptempo tracks with melodic guitar riffs and loud vocals, this record will keep you moving for almost the entirety of its 33 minute running length. Start out with ‘Spirit FM’ which I think is the best track on the record. It definitely sounds like there’s some relationship to the Clash’s cover of the Equals ‘Police On My Back.’ ‘Give it a Shot’ sounds like something straight out of the Ramones’ songbook, whereas ‘One Thing’ will catapult you back to the late 70’s/early 80’s LA punk scene that birthed the Go-Go’s.
