27. SUPERVISION by La Roux
Originally formed as a synthpop duo but now essentially a one woman (Elly Jackson) act, this record definitely exudes synthpop but not in the same way as the previously discussed Tegan and Sara record. Rather, Supervision has a disco, Donna Summers/Nile Rodgers/Chic vibe percolating throughout. But, this is no 1978 rehash. This album is chock full of hooks, grooves and funk for 2020. Check out ‘International Woman of Leisure,’ ‘Automatic Driver,’ and ‘Do You Feel’ and see if you disagree.
