269. NO NAME by Jack White
Jack White, ever the Raconteur, is full of surprises - the latest of which is the surprise 2024 release of a vinyl only record, given away for free at his Third Man Record locations, lacking a formal album title (No Name is printed on the vinyl label) and lacking track names. But he didn't stop there. He has encouraged those lucky enough to get a copy of the record to rip it and share it. And so you won't find this on any streaming services or available for digital purchase. But, you will find it on YouTube and other bootleg-type sites, all with White's blessing. However, because of this, I won't be able to add my recommended tracks to my Apple Music and Spotify playlists (at least not until there is an "official" release). But you will be able to stream those tracks via the link above.
Those of us who humored White with some of his recent solo output but were secretly (or openly) hoping for him to get back to his White Stripes roots of stripped down rock and roll, this is the record we've been waiting for. So stop whatever you're doing and hit the YouTube link above to check out the songs. Quick note - the YouTube link has an album title and track names - those are unconfirmed and most likely the best guess of a diehard fan based on the lyrics of the songs.
The tracks I suggest you give a quick listen to include tracks 3, 5, 1, 6 and 13.
UPDATE #1: We now have track names so the songs corresponding to the track numbers above are 'That's How I'm Feeling,' 'Archbishop Harold Holmes,' 'Old Scratch Blues,' 'Bombing Out' and 'Terminal Archenemy Endling.'
UPDATE #2: And now the record is officially official - No Name is available on all major streaming services and, so, I've added the tracks mentioned above to my Apple Music and Spotify playlists and updated the link below the record sleeve to a universal streaming link
