3. KIND OF BLUE by Miles Davis
There's not much I can add to the thousands of words that have been written about this landmark album. It seems almost cliche to mention that this is probably the greatest jazz album of all time, the best selling jazz album of all time and one of the many great jazz albums that were released in 1959, which was a magical year for jazz music. Additionally, my favorite jazz musician, John Coltrane, plays on it. Lastly, it's one of only two framed vinyls I have hanging on my wall. Like I said, I don't have anything more intelligent to say about the album other than to go listen to it! Recently, PBS' American Masters series aired the documentary Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool. If you didn't catch it during the original airing, you can find it online or within the PBS app.
