277. COMPLETE AND UNBELIEVABLE: THE OTIS REDDING DICTIONARY OF SOUL by Otis Redding

It's been awhile since I've covered a great soul record. A couple months ago I went down a Stax Records rabbit hole after having watched the great documentary series Stax: Soulsville, U.S.A. Seeing what an influence Otis Redding had on Stax and vice versa, I knew I had to write about one of his albums.

Although this particular record isn't the first to come to mind when thinking of Otis Redding, I picked it because of the lead off single, 'Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa-Fa (Sad Song).' You'll understand why when you watch the video down below (even if he's lip syncing the vocals). Not only is it a great Otis original, but the joy that emanates from his face and voice puts a smile on my face every time I watch / listen to this. This 1966 record was his last before he died in a small plane crash in 1967. If only picking Otis originals to recommend you listen to, I would continue on with 'She Put The Hurt On Me' then 'Ton Of Joy' and finally 'I'm Sick Y'All.'
