24. COMING HOME by Leon Bridges

The 2015 debut album by Texas’ own Leon Bridges will bring you straight back to the 1950’s and 60’s - the era of Sam Cooke and sweet, soulful rhythm and blues. From Bridges’ voice, to the arrangement and instrumentation and even his stage presence, this is throw-back music for those of us yearning for classic soul. But, Bridges is no karaoke lounge act - he is the real deal. So much so, in fact, that he decided to go in a slightly different direction for his sophomore effort, perhaps to prove his detractors wrong. Regardless, though, if you too long for that more innocent time, give this record a spin. You can start with ‘Shine,’ ‘Twistin’ & Groovin’ and the bluesy ‘River.’
