279. BORN TO RUN by Bruce Springsteen
I was about a month shy of turning 5 years old when this 1975 record by Bruce Springsteen and his E Street Band came out. From that iconic record sleeve with the Boss and the Big Man (late saxophonist Clarence Clemons) to the songs that epitomized 1970s rock (not yet "classic" but well on the way) this is the one album by Springsteen everyone should listen to at some point in their life.
Essential tracks for me include 'Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out' with its percussive piano riff, 'Thunder Road,' of course the classic title track, 'Born To Run' and 'She's The One' which, if you listen closely and use a bit of imagination, foreshadows 'On The Dark Side' by John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band - to be released 8 years later.
Reminder: all the tracks I mention are included in my Daily Records playlist on both Apple Music and Spotify - links at the top of my blog
Bonus: On 'Thunder Road' does Mary's dress sway or wave? Find me on social media for the definitive answer given by the Boss himself
