76. BLACK HOLES by The Blue Stones

What’s with guitar/drums blues rock duos naming themselves after colorful objects? There’s The White Stripes, The Black Keys and, now, The Blue Stones. Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the similarities with the aforementioned bands don’t stop at the color wheel. This 2018 record (actually 2015 but re-released in 2018) is rock ‘n’ blues, though with a somewhat cleaner sound than, say, early Black Keys. So, if you have an affinity for the music crunched out by the Stripes and Keys, you won’t be let down by the Stones (sorry, I couldn’t resist!). Check out ‘Black Holes,’ ‘Be My Fire’ and ‘Rolling with the Punches.’
