104. ARMED FORCES by Elvis Costello and the Attractions
On occasion of the recently released 2020 deluxe version of this 1979 record, I listened to the original from top to bottom and was reminded of just how good it is. This new wave/post-punk outing is considered Costello’s “political” album, is full of melody and it contains probably his biggest hit - a cover of Nick Lowe’s ‘(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding.’ Also check out ‘Accidents Will Happen,’ ‘Oliver’s Army’ and ‘Two Little Hitlers’ with its clever word-play.
