68. AHEAD OF THE LIONS by Living Things

Punk rock quartet Living Things includes 3 brothers from St. Louis, Missouri and their childhood friend. This record, released in 2005, was my introduction to them after seeing them open for The Cult. With politically-oriented lyrics paired with a guitar heavy sound, the band has been compared to the likes of The Sex Pistols, The Ramones and Nirvana. They released another album in 2009 but then went on an extended hiatus. They’ve recently resurfaced with a new EP and supposedly a new full length record coming out next year. Check out the first 3 songs:  ‘Bombs Below,’ ‘I Owe’ and ‘Bom Bom Bom.’ For something a bit slower, I really like ‘Keep It ‘Til You Fold.’
